I have been trying to step out of my comfort zone in styling these days. As you can see in my last post (here) I was channeling the goddess diva in me, leaving aside the minimal vibe which you will usually see in my OOTDs 😀 So… when recently I received a wedding invitation to one of my college senior, the first thought in my head was “OMG DO I HAVE TO WEAR A LEHENGA AGAIN?!!” and of course when sanity hit me, I went all “Yayyy she’s getting married!! I am so happy for her!”
Don’t get me wrong here, it’s not like hate to wear a lehenga but sometimes I feel it’s too much out of my style, comfort and mainly there’s not much versatility when it comes to styling them for an event. Don’t you all feel bored wearing the same lehenga the same old way all the time? Don’t you wish if you could wear 1 lehenga in different ways and make the most out of one outfit? And sometimes when the event demands an ethnic attire but whole ensemble of yours feels a little OTT for that event! Why isn’t there interesting ways to wear same ghagra choli differently? Or is there?
Well fret not amigos, I have created 3 gorgeous new styles to wear one lehenga choli in different ways! Exciting right?! So take out the lehenga sitting in your closet after you wore it once to cousin’s wedding or at your college’s cultural event and let’s create some cool new looks with them! 🙂
LOOK 1: HALF SAREE STYLE DUPATTA DRAPING (TRADITIONAL LOOK)
If you’re going to a traditional event, let’s say a wedding, you would want your outfit to be on the ethnic and dressier side. Half saree style draping is perfect for such occasions! It has a girly vibe to it so doesn’t look OTT and the saree style dupatta draping accentuates curves magically. Adding a 3-chain head band, adds that royal feeling to the look but you can totally skip it if you don’t feel comfortable in wearing it. FYI a lot of Bollywood divas have sported the half saree lehenga look on silver screen *heart eyes emoji*
If you want to hide your tummy area, instead of making tight pallas like me you can make relaxed pallas so they fall on your tummy area and cover it.
There are a lot of dupatta draping styles but they give a very matured look and almost every girl knows them. But if you want me to show you different ways to drape your dupatta, let me know in the comments below.
LOOK 2: WHITE FORMAL SHIRT WITH LEHENGA (FORMAL FUSION STYLE)
This is a fusion look which is very wearable, looks well put together when it took you just 5 minutes to create this look. You can wear this outfit to office Diwali parties, traditional days or graduation days in college or sangeet functions. These are the occasions where wearing a heavy lehenga choli will definitely look OTT.
And with the right choice of neck piece I feel this outfit elevates a notch up only. What I love about this look that a crisp white shirt adds to the sophistication of the look which a lot of times a fusion outfit lacks & goes more on the street style look.
LOOK 3: RIPPED TANK TEE WITH LEHENGA (BOLD ROCKER CHIC FUSION)
This again is a fusion look but it is an unconventional one. The styling here is on the bold side, looks very glamorous too. You can pull off this glam lehenga outfit at parties, fashion events and cocktail occasions. This outfit looks the best if your lehenga is plain or doesn’t have heavy work done on it.
Adding accessories like a nathni, arm cuffs, spiked bracelets add to the quirkiness of the outfit. The more the accessories, the better for this look!
The lehenga I am wearing here is very young & fresh, comfortable and so on point with today’s trend. Isn’t the color so vibrant?! It’s perfect for any occasion where you need to wear a traditional outfit, you can totally dress it up or dress it down like I did here. This gorgeous lehenga choli was sent to me by The Kurtewali. They took all my measurements online. And tbh with you I was quite apprehensive how it will fit me, but to my surprise it fit me well (the blouse is tad lose as I lost weight then). What I loved the most about them is the fact that they customized the ghagra impeccably to fit all my needs! Getting a custom-made attire hasn’t been easier!

~~ POETRY ~~
It’s the same story all over again.
You ask me how am I?
And I just stand & stare
You ask me to tell about myself
And I don’t know what to say
So again, I stare
Some days, I am exactly the person I tell you I am
And some days not a single thing is the same
It’s the same story again
I run away from everyone
Keeping in touch & slipping off
Just can’t make myself stay
Standing still in my room
In their lives, I keep going astray
My folks are worried
But they don’t get it
I’ve friends & everyone tries to help
But no one truly gets it
They tell me they will be there
Why does it feel they are tired & sick
Losing their patience & grip
But I can’t blame them
Guess you can’t understand
What never left you in pain
It’s the same story again
Seems like everyone’s doing right
And I am left
Just like thunder before rains
I burst into anger and then tears
Words and emotions always mistaken
The walls keep asking what’s wrong with me?
Why I am so just broken?
It’s the same SAME story again
People sitting miles away
Were wording all my feelings
Saying things I’ve been meaning
Kept wishing to have someone
Just like them in my world
I keep looking and waiting everywhere
Yet I will run away, get scared
Just torn between all hopes have run dry
Maybe I should give it one last try?
It’s the same story all over again..
I wrote these lines 2 days back, didn’t know I will be posting it as a tribute. I would like to dedicate this poem to one of my childhood heroes, Chester Bennington. LP was one of the bands whose songs made me feel I not alone to feel the way I am feeling. There is someone around the world who understands the demons in my head. It is breaking my heart to write this tribute, he is gone too soon. Rest in peace Chester, thank you for making my childhood and teen years bearable, wish we fans could put you out of your miseries. Hope you’re at a better place now.
Depression is very very real, buddies and it is eating up us all! Who ever is reading this, I hope you find strength and peace. And, let’s try to be kind to everyone, we don’t know the battles people are fighting alone.
Thank you for stopping by… Do leave your comments! I love reading them 🙂
