My Skincare Resolution 2018

Hi lovely people,

Every year, every now & then, I have been telling myself from now on I will take care of my skin. I am going to be a pampering mommy to my skin… buuuutt that never happened. Like NEVER EVER!

If you read last post on self love you would know how I forget eating, sleeping or even lil things like washing my face when I am sinking deep in work (which happens a lot).

My skincare mostly has been just washing my face, applying moisturizer occasionally and trying my best not to sleep with makeup on my face (but yeah haven’t been good at that either). Being someone with very sensitive skin, you’d expect me to take good care of my skin but it totally has been the opposite in my case.

I still wonder how does my skin bear with my bull$hit. I mean no wonder my skin acted up sometimes but still it wasn’t as bad going by how big of a b*tch I’ve been to it! Though I did struggle with acne, even the hormonal cystic ones which my dermatologist took care of.

Moving on, last year I got bit interested into Korean beauty routines and used to cry my eyeballs out at how flawless skin K-beauty bloggers had! Then I came across a quote –

“expensive products don’t necessarily make skin flawless but consistent efforts do”

And that made me think. Hence, I decided I will be aggressive/passionate in my approach towards having a skincare routine & will consistently follow it! I made task lists, reminders, even set alarms but after a few days I’d fall out of it. Still I didn’t give up, I fail and start over again. And thankfully we are seeing some progress now!

Since your girl is kind of person who will either put in no efforts or will give her 100%, I did a lot of research about ingredients, dug deep & deep, read a lot of skincare blogs/journals. All this information definitely was overwhelming at first, but was also much needed for me to made good educated choices while investing and not blindly spending on skincare products.

And now I would like to share all the information and my personal experiences with you. Hence, from now you will find skincare routines, beauty product reviews on Real Girl Talks! Mind you, reviews shared here will be absolutely honest, no sugarcoated bs will be happening over here. Reviews will only be shared if the products are used for at least 1 month or more. Expect me to keep it real with you all as usual. 😎✌

  28. Good luck! I’ve really simplified my routine in the past year and I’m actually pretty happy with it. I’ve noticed that what I eat makes more of a difference than what products I’m using tbh. The more junk food and sweets I eat the worse my skin is, of course haha.

I absolutely love skincare and I am so excited for you to start your reviews. While I do take care of my skin and am pretty consistent with my routine, there is just so much out there and new beauty products coming out every day it’s hard to know which ones are actually good and work. Looking forward to hearing your reviews! xoxo, Christine

  36. When I was younger I was a bit lazier with my skincare as well, but I’m much stricter now that I’m in my late twenties because you can really see a difference when you skip steps or sleep with your makeup on! You’ll get into the habit soon enough πŸ™‚

  37. Great tips.. I am always concerned about my skin.. trying to find a consistent method of getting that smooth glow.

  42. I love the fact that you are well educated in the art of a good skincare routine, it’s not how much a product costs but how often you use it. Beautiful images darling.

You are so right, products alone will not make your skin look good, Yes one must be consistent with caring for the skin, and eating right as well.

Making the effort to improve your skincare routine is so rewarding in the end, as you will see the results in the long run. Trust me, I am almost 40 now, and I clearly see the difference after I incorporated a good routine about ten years ago.

  47. I have sensitive and oily skin – that dreaded combination! But recently I’ve been learning which products set me off and that I should avoid, and making an effort to learn more about our own skin is, I think, very important. Great post.

  55. Oh, I can totally relate to forgetting some of the most basic things when getting stuck into work, haha! You have reaaaaally beautiful skin by the way! x

  56. Agreed! It doesn’t have to be expensive to work! You just need to find the products that are right for your skin and keep at it! Good luck! Skincare gets pretty addictive after a while I swear ha.

First off, how cute is that shirt!? I need one, haha! It wasn’t until about a year ago that I started to take my skincare more seriously, too. I’ve noticed that my makeup looks better and I feel more comfortable and confident when opting to go makeup free, especially since I have blemish prone skin. I also had to do some research on what would work and actually work with my skin and not against it. I think it’s smart to do this because skincare is so expensive, we should really know how a product would work for our individual skin types and conditions. Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you have a great week ahead!

  65. Good luck with your skincare! my skin is a b*tch, it’s sensitive and acne-prone but it reacts to stress pretty badly so thanks to my job and cleanser with wrong pH I’ve ended up with horrible skin this month. Skincare blogs and medical publications are amazing, they helped me a lot – especially if it comes to ingredients which I should avoid, now every time I buy a product I need to check if it fits my skin πŸ™‚
